GETTING THINGS FIXED

The County Council has a duty to maintain the services it provides and to do its best to keep our roads and pavements maintained and free from obstructions. Approximately 75% of the funds it receive to help it to do this comes directly from the Government and the rest comes from the money we pay in Council Tax.

Because of the size of the area, Council officers cannot keep a close eye on everything in the County and they rely on residents to inform them when things go wrong, or where defects arise. We also need to tell the Council officers when we need their help.

These days there are various ways of contacting officers directly. You can use the internet, and this is a good and accurate way to report the need for repairs to roads, pavements, and street lights, also if you feel more safety measures are required on roads where you live.

You can make direct contact by writing e-mailing the officer concerned or, of course, you can telephone, however, it is always better, to avoid confusion to put your complaint in writing, either on the forms available on the internet or writing or emailing. Keep a copy (with the date) of your report. You should get an acknowledgement very soon after it has been received, if not do not hesitate to write again.
